It seems that Cobra’s latest plan to take over the world involves bankrupting those with a soft-spot for nostalgia with a couple pairs of ’80s toy-themed kicks from New Balance and BAIT.

The Cobra Commanders — based on a New Balance 574 — are definitely the more enviable of the two pairs featuring an all-over snake skin pattern, bright red laces, and the Cobra insignia embossed on the back and on the insoles.

But that’s not to say that the Roadblocks — based on a pair of new Balance 710s — aren’t without their charms. They feature a subtle camo pattern on the ballistic nylon uppers, the G.I. Joe logo on the insole, and a red, white, and blue colour scheme.

Both the Cobra Commanders and the Roadblocks will be available in limited quantities for $US140 and $US120 respectively. So BAIT, who teamed up with New Balance to help design them, will actually be raffling off a chance to buy each pair on its website. So good luck, and Yo Joe! [Hisstank via Comics Alliance]
