When Madame Tussauds nails a wax sculpture, they really nail it. And for Star Wars at Madame Tussauds in London, they perfectly recreated pretty much every character in the saga in such lifelike detail that it looks like the sculptors and artists are just applying makeup to the real actors in this behind-the-scenes footage.
The workload is insane. 13-17 individual pieces are moulded together to shape up a character’s head which then takes 10-15 litres of wax that’s been individually coloured to actually make that head. 10,000 hairs are inserted to each head but in the case of Chewbacca, the entire model is hair so it took 10 people totaling 800 hours of work to make Chewie look good.
