Joeltronics made this very useful graph that shows which episode of Game of Thrones the TV show corresponds to which chapter and which book in the A Song of Ice and Fire books (aka the Game of Thrones books). That way you know what’s been shown when and what’s been omitted in the story. Warning, potential spoilers!
If you were a book reader originally, you see what the TV show misses. If you were a TV show watcher first, you get to see where the series stands in relation to the books. If you’re neither, well what’s wrong with you.
