ESA’s Sun-watching Proba-2 minisatellite had a ringside seat from orbit. Proba-2 used its SWAP imager to capture the Moon passing in front of the Sun in a near-totality. SWAP views the solar disc at extreme ultraviolet wavelengths to capture the turbulent surface of the Sun and its swirling corona

People watch in darkness during the totality of a solar eclipse at the city of Torshavn, capital of the Faeroe Islands. A blanket of clouds kept thousands of sky-gazers from getting a clear view of the sun, but that didn’t stop the cheers. Tourists and residents alike hooted and applauded as the daylight dimmed, plunging Torshavn into darkness for about 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
