Cutting Trees From Newspapers Is The Height Of Irony

Cutting Trees From Newspapers Is The Height Of Irony

Newspaper writers always joke about how their industry is all about selling dead trees. Well, one artist decided to flip that around, making dead trees emerge from newspapers.

Yuken Terayu is a Japanese artist with a list of exhibitions in pretty big galleries to his name. But ‘Minding My Own Business‘ is deceptively simple in execution: Terayu carves these wonderful pop-up trees out of old newspapers.

I can’t decide if it’s an incisive commentary on the slow death of the paper newspaper, or a statement about our non-sustainable use of resources; but either way, it made me laugh. I’m also thankful he can’t do this to blog posts. [Yuken Teruya via Fubiz]
