More People Are Subscribing To Foxtel Now That It’s Cheap

Looks like Foxtel’s cheap plan pricing is starting to pay dividends: it scored loads of new subscribers as a result.

Foxtel recently adjusted its pricing on 12-month contracts to start at $25 per month for the basic package. That package includes channels like Lifestyle, Fox8, MTV, BBC UKTV, Arena, Sky News and Sky News Business. Additional channels like Entertainment Plus, Sport and HD content can be bolted on and cost an additional $10 to $20 per month. It still costs over $130 per month to get every package, but the lower cost of entry is the main selling point for the pay TV brand.

From there, Foxtel went on a huge advertising blitz to plug the new packages, and the strategy seems to be paying off.

In figures reported yesterday by mUmbrella, Foxtel reported that it has added 118,000 subscribers to the service which pushed subscription revenue up by 2.9 per cent year-on-year. [mUmbrella]
