Drive A Porsche, Get Your Own Personalised Ads

When you splash out on a car, you can usually expect some fancy extras. Maybe satellite navigation, maybe free valet parking, maybe some floor mats. But not your own advertising. A particularly creative ad agency has set up a high-tech billboard at Melbourne Airport, and it’s tailored to Porsche drivers.

Spotted by Mumbrella, the ad is for the Porsche 911 Turbo, using a digital billboard at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport — and for the most part it just sits there showing off this pretty straightforward graphic:

If you already own a Porsche, though, there’s really no point advertising to you again. What you get instead is a nice, personalised thankyou, as well as a bit of a look at me to show your friends: a message that reads “It’s so easy to pick you out in a crowd.”

The ad only triggers when the camera recognises a Porsche which, since they all look pretty damn similar, mustn’t have been too hard to program.

By the way — if you have a couple of dollars to spare, Hertz also rents Porsche Boxsters and Caymans out of the airport as part of its Adrenaline Collection, if you were thinking of taking one for a quick spin just to see the ad change.
