.Melbourne Domains Are Pretty Popular Already

The .melbourne domain name suffix launched in November, and since then there have been over 4000 applications for the city-level domain definer. Some of those registrations are inventive, to say the least.

Some of the best include air.melbourne, limo.melbourne and granola.melbourne, but the best, by a long way, would have to be sausage.melbourne.

Sausage.melbourne is the alternate site for Sausages Made Simple, and I have to say, its online store looks pretty delicious. Look at all the sausage things you can get.

To celebrate the swathe of registrations, AusRegistry has created a site to showcase some of the best uses of the .melbourne domain. Other Melbourne icons using the new domain include Father Bob Maguire, the Tramcar Restaurant, and even the official Destination Melbourne tourism network.

You can submit a registration for your own .melbourne Web address through AusRegistry’s partners CrazyDomains, Melbourne IT, Netregistry and Instra.

It’s not just .melbourne, either — .sydney opened up for pre-release applications on December 4, while the more widespread general availability of .sydney domain applications starts on February 17 next year. [AusRegistry]
