I Want This Darth Vader Sculpture Made From Scrap Metal

French sculptor Alain Bellino has quite an impressive portfolio of metal sculptures with some sci-fi references, but this Darth Vader helmet made from old brass ornaments is pretty incredible.

He takes rusted old pieces of metal, cuts them up in a way that suddenly makes sense, and then solders and chemically repaints the result until it’s undeniably Vader-like — but you can still see where’s he’s looted spoons to make the eyes, or what looks like a candlestick to make most of the facial structure.

The full process is detailed in a video (and a series of photos) on the artist’s Behance page — set, of course, to the Imperial March. [Alain Bellino via Inhabitat]
