The Alley Cats Of Japan Look Badass

French photographer Alexander Bonnefoy recently traveled around Japan looking for felines. And boy did he find some pretty ones. He found some pretty scrappy ones, too!

The kitten-laden adventure took Bonnefoy from Okinawa to Hokkaido, down back alleys and up into trees. The alley cats he found ran the gamut of badassery as well. From the delicate ones with stunning looks to the battle-hardened boys with missing eyes, each is unique. And the photos are simply stunning.

Bonnefoy’s complete collection of cat pictures in Japan are collected in a terrific book, Neko Land, that would make an excellent addition to any coffee table. Of course, you might want to drink green tea in honour of the setting. And adopt a stray cat, because every little cutie — even if she’s slightly rough around the edges — deserves a good home.
