Visualised Bird Songs From Aussie Artist Are An Awesome Acid Trip

Videos: Australian artist Andy Thomas recently built a visualiser for bird songs, the latest in his fascinating line up of so-called “audio life forms”. As the term implies, these gorgeous creations look like the sounds they represent and react accordingly. The end result is an acid trip of an experience.

The visualisations left me breathless. Unexpectedly, I found myself enjoying the sound of birds singing like I never had before. It was almost as if the dancing animation made me focus more on the sound with more vigour and unique enthusiasm. It was like I was trying to understand what the bird was saying. And then I got sad when I realised that I am not a bird, and I don’t speak bird.

I sure wish I did, though.
