First Footage From Blackmagic’s New Modular 4K Camera Is Just Gorgeous

Blackmagic’s new 4K URSA camera is a crazy modular device with an insane swappable sensor. Now, the first footage filmed by it is available to view online — and it is just gorgeous.

As you’d presumably hope for from a $US6000 camera that shoots 4K video at 60fps, the footage is rich, fluid and… well, just watch it. It’s amazing. John Brawley, who shot the movie, claims that Vimeo doesn’t really do the original ProRes HQ files justice, and well, that just makes us want to see the original.

Just in case you’re interested, Brawley shot the footage using a Cooke 25-250 MK3 T3.7 zoom lens, onto several 128GB SanDisk CFast 2.0 cards at UltraHD (3840 x 2160) resolution. All but one scene is shot at 60 fps and in 4K. When it finally becomes available, the URSA will be a delight — if you can stomach the price tag. [John Brawley via Engadget]
