We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: SoundCloud is amazing. But many people, especially newcomers, complain that it can be hard to find the fist-pumping signal in the noise. A new SoundCloud recommendation engine called DiscoverTracks, however, makes it super simple.
If you’re a SoundCloud user, it takes two clicks to fire up DiscoverTracks. You simply connect your SoundCloud account, and the web app will create a personalised radio station based on the favourites of the people you follow. So if you only follow amazing DJs and musicians, you’ll only hear the songs that they have liked. (If you follow only friends, you’d better hope they have good taste, because it will be their favourites that populate your new station.) And so that you don’t lose the best tracks, the app lets you add the songs from your radio station to a playlist with two more clicks.
Sounds pretty easy right? Of course, personalised internet radio stations are nothing new. The main advantage of taking the DiscoverTracks route (via Soundcloud) is that you get a socially curated playlist of often independently produced songs that you’d never find through the Pandoras and Spotifys of the world — like this little disco-infused gem or this Diplo jam.
