Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini: Same Sensors As Its Sibling, Slightly Slower

Samsung has just announced a new, smaller version of its Galaxy S5 flagship — and it manages to pack many of the features of its bigger brother, while just losing a little of its speed. In particular, it carries many of the same sensors as its sibling, including waterproof certification, power-saving modes, a heart rate monitor, fingerprint scanner and support for Samsung’s wearables.

It’s the hardware specs that take a bit of a hit, with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 16GB internal memory, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8MP and 2.1MP cameras.

The display is a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED panel, and there’s a 2100mAh battery to keep its Android 4.4 OS chugging along. It will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold.

It will, oddly enough, go on sale in Russia from “early July”, but there’s no word on when it will appear around the rest of the world. Nor for that matter are there any details on pricing. [Samsung Mobile Press]
