Nine-year time-lapse video shows how to make a nuclear fusion reactor

This timelapse video shows the assembly of the most modern nuclear rector of its kind by the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Germany. Work on the Wendelstein 7-X fusion device has taken nearly ten years so far — here it is condensed down to just three minutes.

The final module seen being lifted into place in the video weighs more than 100 tons and it took around three hours to put it in the right position. It is hoped that experiments can begin before the end of this year.
