This Lookout Made Of Mirrors Can Hide In Plain Sight

Now here’s a room with many views. At Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Scotland, you might come across this mirrored lookout blending into the landscape. The walls of mirrors are both framing device and invisibility cloak, reflecting an utterly unique view of the surrounding loch and trees.

The Lookout is the work of architecture students Angus Ritchie and Daniel Tyler as part of their thesis at Strathclyde University. Funding from the Scottish government let them actually realise the Lookout, which was built for about $US8500 and largely by hand.

The mirrors are made of stainless steel. Hidden inside are a wooden bench and one-person seat. A small window even lets you peek out to the loch. It’s certainly a unique little lookout, at once futuristic and harmonious with nature. [Dezeen]
