The FBI Is Auctioning Off Its Seized Silk Road Bitcoins

Late last year, the FBI seized Silk Road and the assets of its founder. Now, it’s planning to auction off the hoard of Bitcoin, worth around $US18 million, that it took control of.

The stash will be put up for public auction between on June 27. The total of 30,000 BTC will be broken down into 3000 BTC blocks to make the purchase of the currency slightly easier, but you’ll still have to front a deposit of $US200,000 just to be allowed to take part in the auction. So, err, good luck with that. [WSJ]
