iOS 8 Lets You Scan Your Credit Card With Your Camera Instead Of Typing

Apple’s new iOS 8 is packed with neat little features, but 9to5Mac has just discovered a new one that’s pretty neat: the latest version of Safari will let you scan a credit card with the device’s camera instead of typing.

When confronted with a card details form, Safari already allowed you to choose a credit card stored in the Passwords & AutoFill settings. But now it also offers the ability to scan a card too: take a picture, then it uses optical character recognition to work out your details. It’s a built-in feature which automatically senses that credit card details are being requested, so it doesn’t require the website to do anything special. All told, it’s a neat little extra.
