Try Your Hand at Quantum Computing With Google's Quantum Playground

Ever wondered what all the fuss surrounding quantum computing was about? Well, now you can find out for yourself using Google's Quantum Computing Playground, which allows you to write the kind of software you'd run on a quantum computer.

It might not look like the future, but the cloud-based simulator runs in Chrome and mimics a GPU-accelerated quantum computer. Quantum computing being what it is, the Playground uses its own scripting language and special/weird 3D quantum state visualisation features.

It can efficiently simulate quantum registers up to 22 qubits, run Grover's and Shor's algorithms and has a variety of quantum gates built into the scripting language itself. That's all pretty neat, by the way.

There's been the occasional online quantum computing simulator in the past, but this is rather more approachable. So go try the future out! [Google Quantum Playground]
