This Bearskin Sleeping Bag Puts You In The Belly Of The Beast

This Bearskin Sleeping Bag Puts You In The Belly Of The Beast

Originally created way back in 2007 by Eiko Ishizawa as a sort of homage to a bear that was killed after wandering from the Italian side of the Alps to the Bavarian, this plush bearskin sleeping bag is finally available for purchase on a made-to-order basis.

Because the sleeping bags will be made entirely from hand — including the fake nose and teeth — availability is going to be extremely limited. In 2014 Eiko only plans to make seven of them, but each one will be numbered so they can be cherished as pieces of art.

And to say thanks to everyone who coughs up $US2350 for the adult version, or just $US2050 for the kid’s sized model, Eiko is encouraging those who buy one to take pictures of them using it, which will be incorporated into collages appearing on their personal website.

It’s an expensive way to contribute to the arts, but good luck finding a painting or concerto that will keep you as warm as this thing will at night in a tent. [Eiko Ishizawa via Cargo Collective via designboom]
