Samyang Introduces New Lenses For Your Wide Angle Pleasure

Adding to its slew of affordable, manual-focus glass, Samyang announced some new options for super wide-angle shooting in both DSLR and mirrorless mounts.

First up is a 10mm f/2.8 lens that will come in almost any popular mount including Canon, Nikon, and most mirrorless systems. It costs $US529. Super-duper wide.

Then there’s a 12mm f/2.0 lens for only mirrorless systems, including Sony E-mount, Fuji X, Canon M, micro four thirds, and Samsung NX. Slightly less super-duper wide, but with a fast f/2.0 aperture for low-light situations. This will compete directly with the very expensive Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8. The Samyang is only $US399.

Finally, we have an 8mm T3.1 cinema lens for mirrorless systems. At $US399, this guy has geared rings for attaching to a follow-focus, and will give you a nice round fisheye effect, just like Samyang’s existing 8mm f/2.8 lens (which is also getting a refresh).

In addition to the new glass, Samyang is also releasing their 35mm f/1.4 and 24mm f/1.4 lenses for Sony E-mount, and will cover the full-frame A7 and A7r. Unfortunately, the new new 10mm, 12mm, and 8mm lenses are only for APS-C and smaller sensors. Check out all the gritty details on the Samyang website.
