One World Trade Security Official Resigns After Daredevil Break-Ins

NY1 news is saying that Daniel Vasquez, assistant security director at One World Trade Center, is resigning after two separate events where thrill-seekers were able to break in to the building.

The move comes after video was released this week showing three BASE jumpers parachuting from the very top of One World Trade. The video, shot in September 2013, led to the arrest of the three daredevils and one accomplice, who reportedly snuck through a hole in a fence to get to the building.

That video became public just a week after a teenager snuck past a sleeping guard and climbed to the roof of One World Trade . 16-year-old Justin Casquejo didn’t even have to employ any super-spy tricks: he also squirmed through a hole in a fence, then asked an elevator operator to take him to the top .

I mean, yeah, it’s probably a good idea to get someone else in the number-two position running security for the tallest building in the United States . But uh, shouldn’t somebody see about those fences? [NY1 News]
