In a time when business cards seem more obsolete than ever , more and more people are coming up with fantastic ways to modernize them. And no one will probably make a better first impression than Kevin Bates, who created this business-card-sized Game Boy clone called the Arduboy that’s just 1.6 millimetres thin.
As the name implies, it’s based on an Arduino board that’s been stripped to as small as necessary to allow this creation to still have a capacitive four-way digital controller, a pair of buttons, and a minuscule OLED display.
Powered by a single coin-cell battery it can run for an impressive nine hours before needing a fresh one. The only downside, however, is that as far as business cards go these would be quite expensive to mass produce. So you’d only want to give them away to people you need to make an indelible impression on.
And as for building your own, Bates does intend to eventually release the plans and source code to the public, and even sell these as kits. But before that happens he’s thinking about crowd-sourcing his time spent developing a better board and cleaning up his code.
