These ephemeral pics capture alcohol exploding at high speeds. They look like the mushroom clouds of atomic bombs or scans of the human brain. And to think, these are substances we put in our bodies on a regular basis.
Called Aurora, the series was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner. To capture these exploding cauliflower-like structures, he added a few drops of alcohol into a large glass vessel, and waited for the liquid to even out. Then, he’d light ’em up, and snap away as these crazy forms came to life. And voila, amazing photos of the stuff you might have been drinking in a martini just a few short hours ago.
