By now, most of us probably solely rely on our smartphones to wake us in the morning, but it's not easy to quickly glance at the time in the middle of the night. So keeping an alarm clock on your bedside table isn't a completely antiquated idea, particularly if it's able to project the time onto the ceiling like the $US80 Lumo, so you don't even have to roll over to check.
This certainly isn't the first projection clock, but without a doubt it's one of the sleeker options you'll find. The Lumo features a soft rubberised finish so when you're fumbling to silence its alarm in the morning it won't easily slide off onto the floor, and the front displays both the current time and when you'll have to wake up for those who like to double, triple and quadruple check.
The projector — which looks like it has a tiny cannon mounted on top — rotates 180 degrees so you can project the time almost anywhere in a room. And as the sun rises and the room gets bright, the projector automatically adjusts itself so the time is always visible. So if you accidentally sleep in until mid-morning, you'll still be able to see how late you are. [Luminaire via Better Living Through Design]
