Known as the Q-Warrior, this helmet-mounted high-resolution colour, collimated display provides dismounted soldiers with real-time situational awareness. The system displays waypoints, monitors the positions friendlies and targets alike, provides details on incoming air support, and links in to sensor feeds from drones and remote vehicles.

“Q-Warrior increases the user’s situational awareness by providing the potential to display ‘eyes-out’ information to the user, including textual information, warnings and threats,” Paul Wright, Soldier Systems’ Business Development Lead at BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems said in a statement. “Other key features include enhanced night vision, waypoints and routing information, and the ability to track both personnel and assets.”

The display will reportedly soon be put through its paces by US Special Forces teams and, if it proves its mettle, BAE Systems expects them to eventually be integrated into every soldier’s kit. [BAE Systems 1, 2Wired]
