It’s true that photographers have a way of fetishising their gear. But it’s fun to appreciate the craft and aesthetic of cameras, just like in these amazing studio portraits by photographer Julian Calverley.
The series is called Treasured Cameras, and they are nothing more than gracefully lit and composed shots of some of Calverley’s own gear, both old and new. There is a bit of irony here, in that many of the photos show vintage or analogue cameras, icons of a bygone era of photography, yet were taken with the most modern camera of all — an iPhone.

It just goes to show you how important lighting and setup are to getting a great shot, no matter what camera you are using. Check out more more of Julian Calverley’s iPhone photography on his Instagram page. [via Behance]
