We all have to poop, but how we deal with it changes with age. For babies, it’s diapers. For the elderly, it’s, well, adult diapers. And, for most of the rest of us, it’s toilet paper.
Market research firm Euromonitor International’s map of trends in the dry-sounding tissue and hygiene industry is surprisingly revealing about the state of the world. (In other news, wet toilet wipes are catching on — to the horror of sewage workers everywhere.)
Diaper sales are booming in countries with high-population growth; toilet paper dominates in developed countries; and incontinence products are of most use in Japan and Western Europe as they face an ageing population. That’s probably more than you ever thought you’d learn from asswipes. [Euromonitor via Wonkblog]
