Market research firm Euromonitor International’s map of trends in the dry-sounding tissue and hygiene industry is surprisingly revealing about the state of the world. (In other news, wet toilet wipes are catching on — to the horror of sewage workers everywhere.)

Diaper sales are booming in countries with high-population growth; toilet paper dominates in developed countries; and incontinence products are of most use in Japan and Western Europe as they face an ageing population.
