Gigabyte Squeezes Amazing Gaming Guts Into 28mm Thick Laptop

This laptop might not have the sleek looks of a shiny ultrabook. But what does that matter when Gigabyte has managed to cram some crazy powerful gaming guts into its 23mm frame?

The new laptop is part of Gigabyte’s new Aorus hardware brand. This model, the 17.3-inch X7, packs: two Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M GPUs, a quad-core Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor, two fans, four vents, five thermal pipes, 32GB of memory, a pair of 512GB SSDs, a 1TB HDD, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, backlit keyboard, Killer networking chip, dual HDMI ports, a Mini DisplayPort and a VGA socket (to power up to three additional monitors alongside its 1080p screen).

PHEW. You could control entire cities with that kind of hardware. Or play some games, your call. Oddly enough, there’s no word on battery life, but we suspect it’s… short. The only downside is the dreadful marketing blurb, which attempts to draw parallels between the laptop and ancient Egypt:

“The glass touchpad with fingerprint-proof coating denotes the commander’s clear vision through chaos and turmoil… The metallic silver eagle badge and 3 moulded ridges symbolizing fierce yet rapid attack from high above.”

Which is, um, fine, I suppose? Anyway, that aside this things looks the business. It should be shipping by March for between $US2100 and $US2800 depending on configuration. [Aorus via Verge]
