It’s no secret that China is choking on smog, but the problem has gotten so bad recently that hotels have started issuing guests with gas masks to use during their stay. For real.
Redditor Mthomaseddy posted this picture of an elegantly packaged gas mask, which was sat in his room when he arrived at the Shanghai Fairmont. It is, apparently, an air-filter mask, rather than something to use in gas attacks. Reassuring!
Clearly, things are getting out of hand — but at least China is starting to try and solve the problem. As well as, y’know, treating people who are suffering illness as a result of the smog. [Reddit via Boing Boing]
