Report: Spotify’s Desktop App Just Got Way More Sleek

Spotify’s rolling out a sleek new look for its desktop clients: darker, cleaner, and less cluttered, according to reports from some users. There are rounded images, larger text — and a little less information.

So, artist pages, show fewer tracks on a single page, and feature pleasant, circular avatars. The Discover tab seems to do away with the clutter of differently sized boxes, in favour of a neat grid. And sharing options are now represented by a subtle three-dot button.

All told, it’s perhaps slightly less intuitive than before, but it does look pretty. While Spotify has yet to make the new look — version 0.9.8 — official, many users are reporting that they’ve received the update on Mac and Windows. That could mean it’s in testing, or that it’s a soft roll out. Sadly, there’s currently no way to force the update.[Verge]
