If you take a lot of pictures, you probably already have some sort of online storage service filing away hundreds of photos. But what happens when you want to share a more refined, story-like presentation of your experiences? A new service called Exposure might be right up your alley.
Exposure encourages a narrative-driven approach to sharing photos. Once you sign up, you are presented with an ultra-minimal workflow for dragging and dropping your images into sets or full-width spreads, separated by blocks of text where you can enter titles and descriptions of what’s going on. The layout is seductively straightforward, with very few customisation options.
It’s a little bit like Medium, which basically does the same thing for writing. Exposure standardizes the presentation, leaving the focus squarely on the actual material. Downplaying the traditional blog or gallery style of sharing photos sets Exposure apart as a place for more refined, thoughtful fare. Its limitations make you think a little differently about how you present your work. And it’s fun! I made this in about 5 minutes.
Currently you can try Exposure for free with a maximum of only three posts. For unlimited posting, it’s $US9 a month. That’s a pretty steep price for such a limited service, especially photographers who may already pay for another blogging, storage, or portfolio site. Personally, if Exposure were $US5 a month, I would sign up right away. But $US9 is a little much.
