Grand Theft Auto In Oculus Rift’s Virtual Reality Lets You Take It To The Streets

Grand Theft Auto is beautiful escapism. Feel like stealing a car and mowing down innocents? You can! Free from the strictures of those pesky “laws”. This incredible demo of Grand Theft Auto 4 on the Oculus Rift means you can be a lawless miscreant in beautiful, immersive first-person.

This demo shows off a mixture of technologies working together to get you as close as possible to the game. You’ve got the Oculus Rift on your face, beaming a first-person character view into your brain, a Cyberith Virtualiser plate for true-to-life movement around Liberty City and a couple of Wiimotes to control your fake arms.

What makes it super-immersive is the harness system built into the Cyberith Virtualiser, which allows you to sit down in vehicles and drive them as you would in the real world. Mind. Blown.
