When you’re too old to go trick-or-treating, and don’t have any kids to go on your behalf, Halloween stops being as fun as it was when you were young. But don’t worry — there are still plenty of ways to bring a little grownup fun back to October 31. For example, carving a pumpkin is considerably more awesome when you add some light explosives into the mix.
You’re probably not going to want to try this experiment with kids around, but when the coast is clear, all you need is a gutted pumpkin with a carved (but not removed) face, and some calcium carbide mixed with water to produce acetylene gas. As we all know from our childhood days spent playing with welding equipment, acetylene is highly explosive, and the right amount can blow the eyes and mouth right off a pumpkin.
