When living in a small apartment, there are compromises you learn to live with for the cheaper rent — mainly the lack of space. But SplinterWorks, the same folks responsible for that stunning carbon fibre hammock tub, have created the clever Bodice lounger that automatically stands up and out of the way when not in use, saving space.
Available in a white leather finish, or pretty much any fabric you want, the lounger looks like a curvy sculpture when standing upright. But with a light touch it gently falls back towards the ground, becoming a spot for someone to sprawl out and relax. The clever use of weighting on the Bodice means it doesn’t instantly pop back up to its standing position when you climb off — like a catapult. Which makes it particularly great for kids, because you don’t want to give them any ideas. [SplinterWorks via designboom]
