Alongside their efforts to court enthusiast photographers, Fujifilm wants you to know that they have options for those with shallow pockets. This leaked image of the upcoming X-A1 hints at a mirrorless camera for just that sort of photographer.
The X-A1 has been long-rumoured, but the new image and press release that appeared on the Czech site FotoSkoda (the leaked page has been removed) certainly looks as real as it gets.
The leaked info states that the X-A1 will feature a 16 megapixel APS-C sensor, but not the lauded X-Trans sensor of the X-Pro 1, X-E1, and X-M1. Nay, this sensor is likely to be lower in quality, thus allowing for a cheaper camera body. The X-A1 lens mount is the same X mount of Fuji’s other bodies, and will probably be bundled with the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS lens. It will also feature a tilting LCD, built-in flash, and WiFi.
Price is anyone’s guess at this point, but with the X-M1 costing $US800 with kit lens, we should expect the X-A1 to cost around $US500. It will also come in some flashy colours like blue and red.
It’s nice that Fujifilm is giving consumers a lot of options up and down the price spectrum, but it will be interesting to see if these entry-level bodies actually sell with some cheap and formidable options already out there such as the Sony NEX-3N, and the recently announced Sony A3000.
