I Am Jack’s DVD Ripping Robot

This is a neat hack (albeit one that would be legal to build but never run in Australia) and a solution for anyone with a whole pile of DVDs they wanted to rip. Theoretically, of course.

This is Jack, the DVD Ripping Robot.

The DVD drive is quite standard, naturally, but the whole system runs via a Raspberry Pi using a bunch of 3D printed parts to lift, drop and stack DVDs as they’re individually ripped.

The plans and details are available online, but under current Australian law, it’d technically be legal to build Jack, but not actually use him.

Also, just so I can get in first, some of you are going say “What’s a DVD”, aren’t you?
