Is This The New Google Maps?

Google is supposedly working on a redesign of Google Maps that’ll kill the all familiar sidebar and replace it with a full screen map. It’s a cleaner look that already makes the current constricted layout seem dated.

The unofficial Google System blog reports that in addition with a full screen map, Google will also add a feature that lets you keep search results to places recommended by people in your Google+ circle. You can also see that the map itself looks different too, the yellow roads of old have been replaced with white lines and so on.

There’s no word on when this new design of Google Maps will roll out to users but Google I/O is next week. Compare the difference between the supposed new layout vs the current one below. [Unofficial Google System Blog]
