Apple Is Counting Down To 50 Billion Apps Downloaded

Whoa. 50 billion?! You people sure love Angry Birds and whatnot. Apple is counting down (or…up) to the magic 50 billion downloaded apps mark today, and there’s a $US10,000 iTunes gift card on offer for the lucky 50 billionth purchaser.

At the time of publication, the total is overing around 49.21 billion apps downloaded, but there’s a ticker on there that shows you just how fast it’s going. It’s pretty incredible viewing.

I still remember the first app I ever downloaded. First it was a lightsaber that responded to the accelerometer in my iPhone. It was the first time I had seen anything like it, and that’s when I fell in love with apps. The second app was Shazam, and that’s one of the best apps I have ever used!

What was your first app? [Apple]
