Melbourne Will Get Its Very First Secret Cinema In May

Sydney’s had its fair share of “Secret Cinemas”, run by Foxtel channel World Movies. Not so this time round, with Melbourne set to host the event in early May. What makes it so secret, exactly? Well, the whole thing involves the screening of an “award-winning” film somewhere in Melbourne… except you won’t know what the film is, or where it’ll be shown until the day it’s on.

The only pertinent information shared by World Movies is that the mystery flick will be shown on May 5, starting from 4.30pm. But it’s not just the moving pictures you’ll be enjoying, but its “culture” as well. From the World Movies website:

The mystery film could be any genre — a horror film, a romantic comedy, a spy thriller or even a little of everything.

Once again, World Movies will be bringing the film’s culture to life on and off the screen. Expect extravagant theming, sumptuous cuisine, surprising activities and performances — all based on the country that the film is from.

Tickets for the event will be sold via the event’s Facebook page, starting from 9am on April 22, at $30 a pop. This covers the film, drinks, food and the aforementioned “activities”, so all you have to worry about is getting there. On the day, an SMS with the location will be sent out to ticket holders, however, it’s mentioned you’ll need access to “any mode of transport” — one hopes this excludes helicopters, submarines and space shuttles.

Reckon you’ll check it out (or been before)? Let us know what you thought!
