Get A Terrifying First-Hand Look At What It’s Like To Ride A 4m Tall Bike

When’s the last time you really felt like a badass on a bicycle? Probably when your training wheels came off around the age of six. Well, fortunately for you, bike and oversized object enthusiast Richie Tremble has figured out a way to feel that sense of wobbly danger once again: a 4m towering beach cruiser he calls the StoopidTall Tall Bike.

The impressively sturdy bike made its inaugural ride this past Sunday at Los Angeles’s CicLAvia, a mass celebration of alternative transportation. And assuming you currently enjoy being alive, Tremble was kind enough to video tape the entire thing, letting you get a sense of what it’s like to sit 4m up without any real risk. Not exciting enough for you? Well how about this — the bike doesn’t have breaks.

But if for whatever reason, you find yourself desiring a two-wheeled street menace of your very own, he happily lays out the specs for us:

14.5ft at the Seat

Built in 12 work hours

One Huffy beach cruiser, 2″ square tubing, 3/4″ round tubing, and 1″ round tubing

26″ single speed coaster brake wheelset

6 1/2 single speed bicycle chains (32.5ft of chain)

To bend the pipe i used an upside down shopping cart and a split log. Ghetto, i know, but hey – IT WORKS.

Obviously, the bike isn’t exactly street legal, so you probably won’t see Tremble taking to the streets again any time soon. But at least we can relive the ride in all its terrifying glory again, and again, and again, for as long as our little hearts can handle. [Devour via @Dgolborne]
