Watch This Lizard Defend Itself By Shooting Blood From Its Eyes

Why would anyone ever go outside? Ever?! Stuff like this cements my view that there’s nothing better than enjoying a beautiful sunny day from the air-conditioned comfort the indoors. Nature’s latest horrifying revelation is that a lizard is defending itself by firing blood from its eye-socket to a distance of five-feet as a defence mechanism. WHAT EVEN IS THAT, NATURE.

A film crew observed that this particular species of horned lizard actually can increase the blood pressure in the veins around their eye-sockets to the point that it gushes out in a targeted stream.

It’s a defence mechanism designed to ward off predators, like the wolf in this video that took a shining to the lizard as a potential dinner target.
