When Felix Baumgartner jumped from the edge of space, we got some crazy, crazy footage out of the deal, but it was just a little bit…dizzying. Flying a remote-controlled glider down from similar heights doesn’t take nearly as much balls, but damned if the footage isn’t just as amazing.
This crazy flight has been a pet project of David Windestål’s ever since the idea occurred to him back in 2010. By outfitting a FunJet with a GoPro 2, GPS tracker, and a video transmitter, and lifting the rig to the edge of space with a weather balloon, David was able to take a ludicrously awesome glide down from over 100,000 feet above ground.
Ultimately, David’s goal was to land the glider right at his feet, but thanks to a number of complications, it didn’t quite work out that way.
