Test Your Model-Making Skills With This Plywood Lowrider

Designer Jurgen Kuipers’s plywood Sawyer lowrider bike is as awesome to look at as it probably is to cruise around the neighbourhood on. So much so that Kuipers has actually created a full-size, 1:1 scale model of the bike that comes packaged just like a plastic model kit.

However, this time around, a jigsaw is probably more useful than a hobby knife for removing the plastic and wooden parts from the giant-sized sprues. And you can forget those tiny bottles of Testors paint too. A can of spraypaint is more apropos here for adding the final finishing touches to this model. But, remember, you’re gonna need one hell of a glass display case when it’s finished.
