Hate having that “Stock” icon hanging out on your iPhone? Even if you shunt it over to its own page with all the other misfits, it’s still there, and you can’t get rid of it. Well, lucky for you, there’s an app in the iTunes App Store right now that will let you hide it, but act fast because it’s bound to be gone soon.
In addition to just hiding unwanted icons, HiddenApps can enable other tweaks, like displaying signal strength in numbers instead of bars, or blocking all iAds. When you boot up HiddenApps and make a change, it will start downloading another app over the air, and then cancel it midway through. Then, deleting the cancelled app on your phone will somehow complete the intended behavior
The whole thing is about as wonky as it sounds. Rebooting your phone, for instance, will undo everything. Still, if you aren’t jailbroken, this is a rare chance to make these kinds of tweaks. But, if you are, there are far better options out there. HiddenApps is available for free on the iTunes App Store right now, but it’s not the kind of thing that’s likely to survive for long. Happy tweaking. [9to5Mac]
