Make Your Own Pulp Science Fiction Magazine Covers With Pulp-O-Mizer

You can just about auto-generate any meme these days, be it lolcats or troll faces, but every once in a while, you need someone to come along and show these tools how it’s done… in style. Enter the “Pulp-O-Mizer”, from Thrilling Tales Of The Downright Unusual.

The Pulp-O-Mizer lets you create a classic sci-fi cover, using various combinations of headings, fonts, backgrounds and foregrounds. The customisation options are varied enough that you can could create 10-20 covers without any of them looking similar, so really it comes down to how creative you are. My effort can be found above and features a tiny Red Dwarf reference.

The web-optimised version only gets about 500 x 300 in size, which is good enough for sharing on social media, but not so great for anything else. Fortunately, the Pulp-O-Mizer site lets you print your design on any number of items, including posters, mugs, cards and even iPad covers (which is a brilliant idea, really).

A great little online toy to play around with on a Saturday afternoon. If you come up with something clever, please don’t keep it to yourself.
