Apple's maps aren't all that good — and that's hardly news — but it appears that the Cupertino company is looking to expand its indoor mapping coverage, splashing out $US20 million on WifiSLAM, an indoor GPS company.
The Wall Street Journal reports on the sale of the two year old WifiSLAM to Apple, noting that it's part of Apple's ongoing efforts to compete with Google Maps. There's no word on when Apple will offer up any indoor maps locations, although given Australia only just got limited indoor maps via Google, I wouldn't be holding my breath for Aussie locations any time soon.
