Watch A Chinese Hacker Launch An Invasion In Real Time

Are the Chinese after us? According to a new report, yes. Security firm Mandiant has detailed the exploits of a Chinese cyber espionage group it calls APT1. Mandiant claims to have evidence that APT1 has stolen “hundreds of terabytes of data” from 141 American organisations. The company also believes that APT1 is the 2nd Bureau of the People’s Liberation Army in China.

In other words, the report confirms what educated observers have been saying for ages: That the Chinese military is after our secrets. Watch the video for a narrated blow-by-blow of an APT1 attack. The screen captures aren’t as riveting as a spy movie, but they’re pretty terrifying, nonetheless. [Mandiant via Washington Post via Digg]
