Bloomberg: Apple Has Product Designers Working On Apple Watch

As silly as it may sound, more and more people are reporting about an Apple watch that maybe its time to put away those Dick Tracy jokes (never!). This time, Bloomberg is saying that Apple has "a team of about 100 product designers working on a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the computing tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad."

Bloomberg cites two people familiar with Apple's plans, which is pretty much only half as vague as one person familiar with Apple's plans. Bloomberg suggests that the team's size -- which has grown in the past year and includes "managers, members of the marketing group and software and hardware engineers who previously worked on the iPhone and iPad" -- might mean that Apple is no longer just experimenting with the watch. That it could be something more than that.

But still no timeline has been cited, so this could be years before we see anything. [Bloomberg]

After spending years trying to get people away from a watch, suddenly they're trying to bring them back in.

that looks more like a phone than a watch... I am confused.

Just tape your phone to your wrist like the cool kids do, I'm styling it out with a Galaxy SII watch at the moment.

I'm guessing Apple has seen the success of the Pebble kickstarter and wants a piece of the smartwatch action. One of Pebbles limitations on iOS is not being able to see sms data, which I'm sure an Apple made watch won't have a problem with.

      Works fine on Android.

I think the success of the pebble made a lot of people sit up and listen.
How good it ends up being, remains to be seen when the consumer units ship.

Is this Apple's answer to Google glasses? I reckon they are trying to set the trend somewhere else and keep Google a step behind.
