New iPhone Apps: Rise, Directr, Joe Danger

Just because we were in Vegas for CES this week, doesn’t mean we were sleeping on this round of the best iPhone apps of the week. In this edition, you’ll find a better alarm clock, a video-making tool and Joe Danger.

Rise: Waking up in the morning doesn’t have to be the worst thing ever, thanks to Rise. It’s a beautifully designed alarm clock that uses gestures instead of buttons and is set against calming gradient hues that change depending on the time of day. $1.99.

Directr: You’re not Scorcese, but you can still make good looking movies on your iPhone with a little help. Directr gives you scripts to choose from that include instructions on the type of shot you should record, then sews the clips together for a sharable mini-film. Free.

Joe Danger Touch: You’re the legendary daredevil Joe Danger. And you have to prove your title yet again by completely death-defying stunts in this game to continue your reign as the master of disaster. $2.99.

Timeline Castles: History nerds, take note. Timeline Castles teaches you all about the history of more than 100 European castles. You’ll never be able to visit all of them, but 360-degree on your iPhone are the next best thing. $0.99.

Garmin Connect: This new app works with the Garmin Edge cycling computers. It uploads your latest treks, pulls weather information, and lets you download and courses to the mini-module, which fits on the handle bars of your bike. Free.
